
Three people have been confirmed dead following a late-night attack by armed bandits on Dangoro village in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m. on March 28, 2026, saw the attackers storm the community through the Nahuche District, firing gunshots and setting properties on fire.
According to the spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command, Yazid Abubakar, the assailants armed with AK-47 rifles invaded the village, causing panic as they shot indiscriminately and burned several houses and food silos.
Security operatives, alongside local vigilante members, were quickly deployed to the area after receiving reports of the attack.
The joint team engaged the bandits in a gun battle, successfully forcing them to retreat into nearby bushes, with some believed to have sustained gunshot wounds.

Despite the swift response, three lives were lost in the attack, including a member of the Community Protection Guard. Several others were injured, with five victims suffering gunshot wounds and four sustaining varying degrees of burns.
In addition to the loss of lives, the attackers destroyed homes, food storage facilities, and livestock, including goats, leaving residents in distress.
All injured victims have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau, where they are currently receiving treatment and are reported to be responding well.
The police command has assured residents that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest those responsible.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Muhammad, reiterated the commitment of security agencies to protect lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and cooperate by providing useful information to authorities.
