The police in Anambra State have arrested a 35-year-old man, Chukwudalu Ezeani, for allegedly killing his cousin and concealing the body in a shallow grave within his compound.
The incident occurred in Afube Village, Amichi, in Nnewi South Local Government Area, where the victim, 52-year-old Chinedu Ezeani, was reportedly murdered on August 1, 2025.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the case was initially reported as a missing person incident at the Amichi Police Station but was later revisited following credible intelligence that pointed to foul play.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the killing was allegedly driven by a dispute between the two relatives, believed to be connected to a misunderstanding over family property and lingering personal disagreements.
The situation reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation at the suspect’s residence.
Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka subsequently arrested the suspect after intensifying investigations into the case.
