Anambra Election: Moghalu Reveals Why He Lost in His Polling Unit

George Moghalu, Labour Party’s candidate in Saturday’s Anambra governorship election, has explained why he lost at his polling unit.

“Speaking on Channels Television’s ‘Sunday Politics’, Moghalu attributed his loss in his polling unit to vote-buying by rival candidates.

He explained that he could not match the cash incentives offered to voters, and therefore chose not to participate in such practices.”

He explained that many voters in his polling unit were swayed by cash incentives due to financial hardship. “I couldn’t match the amount being offered, so I refused to pay or participate in vote-buying,” he said.

George Moghalu alleged that the ruling party in Anambra, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was primarily responsible for vote-buying during the election.

He noted, “They have so much money to buy votes, and what do you expect my people to do? Many of them are poor, so they gave in.

” Moghalu further revealed that several party agents, some already arrested for vote-buying, were observed wearing APGA tags.

Some of them are on record as having been seen purchasing votes.
“There’s even a commissioner who was also caught on camera buying votes in my particular constituency,” Moghalu added.
