
A tragic family feud in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State turned deadly when 37-year-old Onyedika Okpala was allegedly killed by his two brothers, Okwudili and Chigbo Okpala, over an inheritance disagreement.
The violent confrontation reportedly erupted on February 11, 2026, around 4:50 p.m., at Umunkwo Village, Ula, after a heated argument over the division of family property.
Sources say the disagreement escalated quickly when words turned to physical blows, and the brothers allegedly attacked Onyedika with machetes, inflicting severe head injuries.

The victim reportedly tried to defend himself but collapsed unconscious from the bleeding.
The victim’s sister alerted the police, who rushed to the scene, but the suspects had fled.
Onyedika was taken to the General Hospital, Ekwulobia, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body has been deposited in the hospital morgue for autopsy, and authorities have launched an investigation while intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing brothers.
This incident follows a similar violent dispute in Ihiala, Anambra, in December 2025, when a young man was killed during an argument over a phone charger, highlighting a worrying trend of deadly conflicts within families over property and minor disagreements.
Authorities have called for calm and urged families to seek peaceful resolutions to property disputes to prevent such tragedies.
