Again Terrorists Kill 2 Abduct Over 50 Women in Katsina Community

Terrorists have launched a deadly attack on Chibauna community in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing two residents and abducting more than 50 women.

The assailants stormed the community late on Sunday night, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents. During the raid, they also rustled a large number of livestock, including cattle and sheep.

Confirming the incident during an interview with the BBC Hausa Service monitored on Monday night, a local councillor, Malam Abdurasheed, said the attackers invaded the village in large numbers.

According to him, two people lost their lives in the attack, while several others sustained gunshot injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

He disclosed that although over 50 women were initially abducted, some of them managed to escape and later returned safely to the community. However, several victims are still being held by the attackers.

Malam Abdurasheed appealed to the military and other security agencies to urgently intervene, intensify security operations in the area, and ensure the safe rescue of those still in captivity.

The latest attack has heightened fear among residents and raised concerns about the effectiveness of the peace agreement, as well as the worsening security situation in parts of Katsina State.
