AFCON 2025: Nigeria Hammer Mozambique 4-0 to Advance

Nigeria’s Super Eagles booked their spot in the AFCON 2025 quarter-finals after a commanding 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the Round of 16 in Fès. Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 20th minute, with Victor Osimhen adding two goals, and Akor Adams rounding off the win in the 75th minute.


Wilfred Ndidi captained a midfield supported by Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi, while Stanley Nwabali returned in goal. The defensive quartet of Bright Osayi-Samuel, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, and Bruno Onyemaechi kept a clean sheet.

Second-half substitutions, including Paul Onuachu, Samuel Chukwueze, Tom Dele Bashiru, Onyedika, and Moses Simon, reinforced Nigeria’s dominance.

By the 80th minute, Nigeria had eight shots on target, with Mozambique failing to test Nwabali.
The Eagles, who topped Group C with a perfect record, will now face the winner of Algeria vs Congo DR in the quarter-finals, keeping their pursuit of a fourth AFCON title alive.
