Adamawa Man Arrested for Pouring Acid on Teen on the Way to the Mosque

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly attacking a teenager with a substance suspected to be acid in the Shagari area of Yola South Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when the 17-year-old victim reportedly came under attack while on his way to the mosque.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, the teenager managed to escape and ran to the Shagari Police Division to report the incident.

Nguroje said the victim identified the suspect as a resident of the area, adding that the police immediately swung into action after receiving the report.

The teenager was rushed to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment, while the suspect was taken into custody.


He disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case to ensure a thorough and professional investigation.


The police command assured members of the public that justice would be served, noting that updates would be provided as investigations progress.

The incident has again drawn attention to the growing concern over violent attacks involving corrosive substances in parts of the country.
