
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested an Abuja-based property agent, Hajia Adama Ahmed Adamu, over an alleged fraud involving N288 million.
The commission disclosed that the suspect was apprehended by operatives of its Ilorin Zonal Directorate after acting on a formal petition submitted by a complainant, Alhaji Tanko Yawale.

Following intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance, EFCC operatives tracked the suspect to her location, where she was arrested without resistance.
According to the EFCC, Adamu allegedly collected the sum under the pretext of facilitating the purchase of a property located at House 31, Haile Selassie Street, Asokoro, Abu7However, after receiving the payment, she reportedly failed to provide valid documents for the property and subsequently became evasive.
The development raised suspicion and prompted the victim to file a formal complaint, which led to swift action by the anti-graft agency.
The EFCC stated that investigations are ongoing and assured that the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of the probe.
The commission also cautioned members of the public to exercise due diligence when engaging in property transactions, stressing the importance of verifying ownership and documentation before making payments to avoid falling victim to fraud.
