Governor Alex Otti has explained the reason behind his much-talked-about visit to detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Responding to growing criticism and a viral video questioning his motive, Otti clarified that the visit was not driven by political ambition.
Speaking during a meeting at the Government House in Umuahia, the Abia State governor said the visit was purely personal and misunderstood by many.
As reactions continue to trail the encounter, his explanation is now fueling fresh debates nationwide.
Governor Alex Otti explained that his visit to the IPOB leader was motivated by the need to promote dialogue and lasting peace.
He dismissed reactions to a circulating video, noting that it merely reflected differing viewpoints, which are normal in a democratic society, and stressed that disagreement does not automatically make one side right or wrong.
Otti further clarified that he has no plans to seek any elective office after completing his tenure as governor.
He recalled stating this earlier, including during an interaction with representatives of the President in October, and reaffirmed his decision to retire from public office at the end of his term.
