In a recent development in Osun State politics, seven governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have stepped down following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.
The aspirants have thrown their support behind Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s consensus candidate ahead of the upcoming primary.
President Tinubu convened a meeting at the Presidential Villa, which was notably boycotted by aspirant Iyiola Omisore. Omisore had previously dismissed his disqualification from the primary as a joke.
Several aspirants, however, stepped down, including former Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke, Babatunde Haketer Oralusi, and Mulikat Abiola Jimoh.
