Step Down for the Nation’s Good,’ Baba-Ahmed Advises Tinubu

Former presidential adviser Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has called on President Bola Tinubu to reconsider staying in office, saying the country may benefit more if he steps aside.

Speaking on Arise TV’s Daybreak on Monday, Baba-Ahmed said the President’s two and a half years in power have fallen far short of the promises made and the achievements often credited to him.

He noted that government claims do not match the daily realities Nigerians face.

According to him, there is a “huge gap” between what the administration says it is doing and what citizens are actually experiencing.

Baba-Ahmed also faulted the government’s handling of security, stating that while former President Buhari left the country in a difficult state, the situation under Tinubu “appears to have worsened rather than improved.”

He hinted that the President’s age, long-standing ambition, and what he described as a lack of new ideas could be reasons for urging him to step down.

“If President Tinubu truly cares about Nigeria’s survival, he should consider quitting,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed further suggested that in 2027, Nigerians should look for someone—whether within the ruling party or outside it—who can offer stronger leadership qualities.
