Senator Okey Ezea’s sudden death has created a major opening in Enugu North politics, setting the stage for a competitive by-election.
Ezea, who won the seat under the Labour Party after defeating former governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in 2023, had become one of the strongest political figures in the district. His absence has now reshaped the political balance.
