The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to life imprisonment following his conviction on all seven terrorism charges.
Justice James Omotosho, while delivering judgment in Kanu’s trial, labeled him a terrorist, stating that his actions have caused bloodshed and unrest in the South-East.
He added that Kanu, despite presenting himself as a protector of his people, has actually threatened lives and national security.
Justice Omotosho declared that the court has found Nnamdi Kanu guilty of international terrorism, insisting that he must be treated in accordance with the gravity of his crimes.
The judge highlighted that the prosecution provided credible and ample evidence to substantiate the charges, while noting that Kanu opted not to present a defense, resting his case solely on the evidence brought by the prosecution.
Justice Omotosho continues to deliver the remaining portions of the judgment.
