IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu was ordered to be removed from the courtroom on Thursday after he insisted the court could not deliver judgement in his terrorism trial, a decision handed down by Trial Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Kanu insistently demanded that the court recognize his right to file a written address, forcing a temporary halt in proceedings. Despite his removal, the judge dismissed Kanu’s fresh motions, noting they raised issues previously addressed.
The court also denied his request to refer the case to the Court of Appeal, citing Section 306 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, which bars a stay of proceedings in criminal matters. His bail application was rejected, though some points raised in his motions would be considered in the judgement.
As the verdict reading commenced, Kanu continued to protest, insisting the court lacked jurisdiction without accepting his written address.
