Bezi to Military: Publicly Execute Any Arrested Terrorist

Following the killing of Brig. Gen. Uba by terrorists during an operation in Northern Nigeria, a Delta State–based human rights activist, Comrade Ighotegwolor Bezi, has called for the public execution of any terrorists apprehended by the military.

Bezi, who spoke on Wednesday in Aladja, also urged the armed forces to extend the same punishment to individuals aiding terrorists with weapons, ammunition, food, fuel, or any form of logistical support, insisting that such collaborators pose an equal threat to national security.

Calling for tougher action against terrorists, the activist argued that public execution of arrested fighters would “instill fear” and deter future attacks. He said terrorists had become emboldened because they were being “handled with kid gloves,” allowing them to strike at will.

During a chat with our correspondent in Warri, he further claimed that many of the “so-called repentant bandits” were sabotaging military efforts on the field.

He also expressed deep sorrow over the death of Brig. Gen. Uba, describing the development as “painful and nauseating.

He maintained that the United States should not be invited to assist Nigeria in its fight against terrorism.
According to him, even with what he described as the “ragtag” condition of the nation’s military, he would still oppose any move to allow America wage the battle on Nigeria’s behalf.

He further proposed that military officers who are natives of the terrorism-prone communities in the North should be deployed to lead operations in those areas, supported by vigilantes, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and other volunteer security groups.

Comrade Bezi further urged the military to equip vigilantes, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and other volunteer security outfits with AK rifles, arguing that such support would significantly boost their morale and enhance their capacity to confront insurgents.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the soldiers killed in the recent terrorist ambush, stressing that their sacrifice must not be in vain.

According to him, the government must ensure that ISWAP, Boko Haram, and other extremist groups “face the full rage of the people” in response to their continued attacks.
