Two herders and several cattle have reportedly been killed after gunmen attacked the Tafawa community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday night, leaving members of the Fulani community worried over the growing insecurity in the area.
The Plateau State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, confirmed the attack to journalists in Jos on Thursday.
Babayo said the gunmen attacked the victims at their residence, killed them and fled the community.

He called on the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division and the Commander of Operation Enduring Peace to investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.
Babayo also demanded increased security around the Tafawa Fulani community and other vulnerable areas to prevent further attacks.
He urged security agencies not to ignore the incident, insisting that justice must be served and lives and property protected.
Efforts to get a response from the spokesperson of Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Polycap Oteh, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to inquiries as of press time.
