At least 16 people were rescued after a building collapsed in Kano State in the early hours of Saturday, August 8, 2026.
The incident occurred around 4:32 a.m. at Dan Dishe, Kwanar Yashi, within the Fagge Local Government Area.
According to the Kano State Fire Service, emergency responders were immediately dispatched following a distress call received from one of its personnel.
On arrival, rescue officials discovered that a structure measuring approximately 20 by 30 feet had caved in, trapping occupants inside.

Thirteen victims were successfully rescued alive, including six children identified as Al-Mustapha Yusuf (15), Khadija Yusuf (7), Ummusalama Yusuf (10), Madina Yusuf (6), and Hafsat Yusuf (9), alongside several others whose identities were not immediately confirmed.
Three additional children — Affan Yusuf (5), Hassana Yusuf (7), and nine-month-old Ummulkursum Yusuf — were pulled from the debris unconscious.
All rescued victims were handed over to a family representative for urgent medical attention and further care.
Authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the building collapse.
