
The Oyo State Police Command has intensified efforts to apprehend four suspects linked to the gruesome killing of a 24-year-old man, Sefiu Kehinde, during a masquerade procession in Ibadan.
The tragic incident, which occurred in the Labiran area, has sparked widespread concern as reports indicate that the victim was allegedly attacked with axes and cutlasses by a masquerade identified as Asoleke and his followers.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the case was reported at the Mapo Divisional Police Headquarters after the victim’s family raised an alarm.
Police operatives swiftly responded, evacuating Kehinde to a nearby hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.

The police confirmed that the masquerade has been arrested, while four accomplices believed to have participated in the attack are currently on the run.
“The command is actively pursuing the fleeing suspects and urges members of the public to provide credible information that could aid their arrest,” Ayanlade stated.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation.
Authorities have reassured residents of their commitment to safeguarding lives and property, emphasizing that all those involved in the incident will be brought to justice.
