According to police spokesperson ASP Eno Ikoedem, the arrested workers are assisting investigators as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the infant.

Sources said the incident occurred at a private medical facility in the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The baby’s mother reportedly slipped into a postpartum coma shortly after giving birth.
The situation took a troubling turn when the woman regained consciousness and requested to see her newborn child. Hospital staff allegedly failed to produce the baby, prompting immediate concern and raising questions about the infant’s whereabouts.
A source familiar with the matter said the mother raised an alarm after being informed that the child could not be accounted for. The case was subsequently reported to the police, leading to the arrest of some hospital personnel and the commencement of investigations.
Residents have called for a swift and transparent inquiry, urging authorities to uncover the truth and ensure justice for the affected family.
Efforts to obtain comments from the hospital’s management, including senior officials reportedly on duty at the time of the incident, were unsuccessful.
Police authorities have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that anyone found culpable will be brought to justice.
