
Operatives of the Yobe State Police Command have arrested three suspects in possession of dangerous weapons during a raid on criminal hideouts in Damaturu. The operation was carried out on Monday following directives from the Commissioner of Police, Usman Kanfani Jibrin.
According to a statement by the command’s public relations officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the suspects were apprehended in Moduri Ward. They were found with weapons and suspected charms believed to be used for protection during criminal activities or violent confrontations with rival groups.

The arrested persons were identified as Yusuf Garba, 19, Dauda Kolo, 22, and Rabiu Hamza, 20. Items recovered from them include four knives measuring about 20 inches each, four heavy sticks, and one machete. Police said the weapons were concealed and intended for violent use.
Investigations have commenced to determine the motive behind the possession of the deadly weapons. The command added that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate who are currently at large.
The Yobe Police Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property. It also said it would intensify operations to address youth hooliganism, drug and substance abuse, and other violent crimes across the state.
