Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected one-chance operators in the Obantoko area after they allegedly robbed a woman and her two sisters.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, said the arrest followed a distress call on May 28, 2026, at about 5:15 p.m.
The victims had boarded a Nissan Micra taxi painted in Ogun State colours from Somorin en route to NNPC Kuto, where they planned to connect to Lagos after attending a wedding anniversary.
According to police, the driver and his accomplice diverted from the agreed route at the OLG Somorin axis, turned aggressive, and forcefully ejected the passengers. The complainant discovered her iPhone 12 Pro was missing immediately after disembarking.
Operatives from Obantoko Division mobilised quickly with the help of residents and arrested Odunuga Kehinde and Olajide Rasak at the scene.

The stolen phone was recovered, but the vehicle used in the operation fled before police arrived. The prompt response prevented an angry crowd from taking the law into their own hands.
During interrogation, both suspects reportedly confessed to the crime. Police said photographs were taken for records and the recovered iPhone was released to the owner on bond.
Ogun State police have urged residents to remain vigilant when boarding taxis and to report suspicious activity promptly to security agencies.
