The National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the incident in an official statement on Wednesday.
He revealed that the assailants were eventually repelled by a joint effort of Operation Rainbow personnel and other security operatives.
Tengwong strongly condemned the attack, describing it as senseless and avoidable. He urged the Plateau State Government and security agencies to take swift and decisive action to prevent further bloodshed in the region.
“We call on authorities to immediately halt grazing activities in affected areas, as there appears to be a connection between such movements and recurring attacks,” he stated.
He further emphasized the need for intensified military operations in known hideouts of armed groups, warning that failure to act could result in continued loss of lives across Plateau State and the wider Middle Belt region.
The incident adds to the growing concerns over insecurity in the area, with residents calling for urgent intervention to restore peace and safety.
