The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has visited communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State following a deadly attack on schools that left a teacher killed and several pupils and residents abducted.
The visit comes amid rising tension in the affected areas after gunmen stormed schools in the Ahoro-Esinle axis on Friday, carrying out the attack.
During his visit, the IGP expressed deep concern over the incident and extended condolences to the families of the victims.
He assured residents that security agencies are fully committed to rescuing those abducted and restoring peace to the communities.
Disu was accompanied by senior police officials, including the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Ojo Adekimi, due to the proximity of the affected communities to the state’s border.
Also present was the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Schools Protection Squad, Abayomi Shogunle.
The police chief held strategic meetings with the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, alongside other security stakeholders.
