
Operatives of the Plateau State Police Command have successfully thwarted a suspected kidnapping operation in Gindiri, Mangu Local Government Area, neutralising one suspect and recovering an AK-47 rifle.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, Alfred Alabo, the incident occurred during a tactical operation by police detectives attached to the Gindiri Division, who were on the trail of a criminal gang operating within the Changal community.
The team reportedly came under attack from armed assailants led by a notorious suspect identified as Ibrahim Abdullahi, who has been linked to a series of criminal activities in the area.
In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, one of the suspects was neutralised.

Security operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 16 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, along with a mobile phone believed to belong to the suspect.
The case has been transferred to the Violent Crimes Response Unit (VCRU) for further investigation, with authorities assuring that all those connected to the incident will be brought to justice.
Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah, commended the officers for their bravery and professionalism, reiterating the Command’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements across the state.
He also called on residents to support ongoing security efforts by providing timely and credible information to law enforcement agencies.
