On arrival, security operatives discovered that angry youths had already set several settlements ablaze, destroying huts, houses, and other valuables in the process.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the violence stemmed from a land dispute earlier that morning at about 9:30 a.m. between 18-year-old Doza Hussaini and 25-year-old Nasiru Tukur.
The disagreement reportedly occurred near a Fulani settlement and quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
Doza reportedly called his father, Hussaini Turaki, for support during the altercation.
In the ensuing violence, Hussaini allegedly injured Nasiru with a cutlass, while Nasiru retaliated by attacking Hussaini’s brother, Safē Turaki, 45.
Safē Turaki sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a clinic in Gwada, where he was later confirmed dead.
Several other individuals sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at nearby medical facilities.
The police said calm has since been restored in the area, adding that efforts are ongoing to arrest all those involved in the violence.
Authorities assured residents that investigations are continuing and further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
