
Residents of an Army estate in Kurudu, Abuja, were thrown into panic in the early hours of Thursday after armed men launched an attack on the community.
The incident occurred around 12:15 a.m. at the Kurudu Post Army Estate, Phase 5, when a group of about 30 to 40 gunmen reportedly stormed the area, sending residents into fear and confusion.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers gained entry under the cover of darkness, but occupants quickly raised an alarm, prompting an immediate response from soldiers stationed at the estate’s gate.

During the confrontation that followed, troops engaged the assailants in a gun battle, killing one of the attackers, while others fled the scene.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the attack, with uncertainty over whether it was an attempted robbery or a kidnapping operation.
Security officials have urged residents to remain vigilant, assuring that investigations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further incidents.
