Chelsea Manager: Liam Rosenior
Chelsea manager, Liam Rosenior, has confirmed that midfielder Enzo Fernández will miss the club’s Premier League clash against Manchester City this weekend, despite issuing an apology over his recent comments.
Fernandez was previously left out of Chelsea’s FA Cup tie against Port Vale and remains unavailable for Sunday’s crucial league encounter as part of a disciplinary sanction.
The Argentine international had come under scrutiny following remarks about his future during the international break. Although both the player and his agent have since apologised to the club, the punishment will still be enforced.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Rosenior revealed that multiple discussions had taken place with the midfielder.
“I’ve had a really good conversation with Enzo three or four, in fact. He has apologised to me and to the club, and we’ll address everything fully after Sunday’s game,” he said.

The Chelsea boss emphasised that while the situation is serious, it does not reflect negatively on Fernandez’s character.
“I’m not questioning Enzo as a person. People make mistakes, but it’s important that the consequences match the situation. A decision has been made, and now it’s about moving forward,” Rosenior added.
He further confirmed that the midfielder will not feature against Manchester City but expressed optimism about his future at the club.
“He won’t play on Sunday, but we expect him to be a key part of the squad moving forward. There are still a few internal matters to resolve, but right now the focus is on finishing the season strongly,” he said.
Chelsea will now prepare for a crucial run-in without Fernandez for the high-stakes encounter against the reigning champions.
