Soldiers have killed two suspected terrorists and arrested a suspected kidnapper during coordinated security operations in Plateau State.
The Media Information Officer of the taskforce, Chinonso Oteh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, noting that the operations were conducted on April 4, 2026, in Wase Local Government Area.
According to Oteh, the mission involved a series of clearance operations targeting identified insurgent hideouts in Babangida, Adua, and Bokayi villages located within the Dutsen Zaki forest.
He explained that troops engaged suspected terrorists in a gun battle along the Babangida–Adua road, resulting in the killing of two of the suspects, while others escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds.
Items recovered from the scene include a locally fabricated firearm, a belt containing 105 rounds of 7.62mm PKT ammunition, 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a cutlass.
In a separate operation in the Namu District of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, troops intercepted four suspected terrorists following intelligence reports on the movement of armed individuals.
During a search, the suspects were found in possession of 100 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Oteh added that troops later advanced to dismantle the suspects’ hideout but encountered resistance from other armed members of the group.
“During the exchange, three of the arrested suspects attempted to flee but were hit by gunfire from their own associates,” he stated.
In another development, soldiers in Shendam Local Government Area, in collaboration with local residents, arrested a suspected kidnapper in Gidan Mangoro village.
The suspect is believed to be connected to a kidnapping incident reported in the community on April 3, 2026, and is currently in custody undergoing further investigation.
Oteh noted that the operations highlight the continued efforts of the Nigerian military and local stakeholders to restore peace and security across Plateau State.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
Meanwhile, it will be recalled that in March, troops of Operation Hadin Kai repelled an attack by Boko Haram insurgents in Mallam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State, killing three top commanders and over 80 fighters.
