Super Eagles goalkeeper: Maduka okoye
Udinese have received a timely boost ahead of their Easter Monday Serie A fixture against Como, with Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye declared fit despite a recent injury scare.
The 26-year-old shot-stopper had missed Nigeria’s 2-2 friendly draw against Jordan in Antalya, Turkey, after sustaining a thigh contusion during training.
The Super Eagles medical team had earlier ruled him out of the encounter as a precaution.
However, fresh updates from Italy suggest that concerns over his fitness have eased significantly.
According to reports from Tuttomercatoweb, positive signals have emerged from Udinese’s Bruseschi training base, indicating that Okoye is in good condition and ready to return to action.
The club’s medical team is expected to carry out routine checks following his return to Udine, but he is widely anticipated to feature against Como.
“Good news for Udinese. Despite concerns in recent hours over Maduka Okoye’s condition, positive signals have emerged from the Bruseschi training base. The alarm over the Super Eagles goalkeeper has subsided,” the report stated.

Okoye has been a key figure for Udinese this season, delivering consistent performances between the posts. He has recorded 60 saves ranking just outside the top ten in Serie A with an impressive save percentage of 69.8%.
Despite conceding 26 goals, his goals-prevented metric of 3.66 highlights his effectiveness, suggesting he has saved more goals than an average goalkeeper would under similar conditions.
The Nigerian international has also kept six clean sheets and holds a penalty save rate of 16.7%, successfully stopping one out of six spot-kicks faced.
Beyond his shot-stopping abilities, Okoye has contributed to Udinese’s build-up play, completing 430 passes at 63% accuracy, including 152 accurate long balls.
His command of the penalty area is further reflected in 18 high claims and six sweeper actions this season.
With Okoye back in contention, Udinese will now shift full focus to their clash against Como, confident in the availability of their first-choice goalkeeper as they aim to strengthen their position in the Serie A standings.
