Recovered Tricycle
The Kano State Police Command has successfully dismantled a three-man tricycle theft syndicate, recovering eight stolen tricycles across different locations in the state.
The breakthrough was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, who noted that the operation was driven by credible intelligence and executed by officers from the Kwakwachi Police Division.
According to the statement, the operation began on March 26, 2026, at about 5:00 p.m., when police officers on surveillance patrol along Airport Road intercepted a suspect, Abubakar Sidi, a resident of Kunkumi Village in Kaduna State.
He was found riding a tricycle bearing registration number NSR 85 WD and KAROTA number KMC 1084 but failed to give a satisfactory account of its ownership.
Following the interception, the suspect was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department on the directive of the Commissioner of Police for further interrogation.
Investigations later revealed that Sidi had deceived a tricycle owner along Emir Palace Road in Kano and, in collaboration with his syndicate, dispossessed the victim of the vehicle.
