
Residents of Bukuru Lowcost community in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State were thrown into shock and mourning on Tuesday after the body of a woman was discovered in a river within the area.
The grim discovery, reportedly made by locals, drew a crowd to the riverbank as residents struggled to come to terms with the incident.
A video circulating online captured the moment concerned individuals retrieved the body from the water.
Speaking on the development, a resident, Tina Gabriel, expressed deep concern, suggesting the possibility of foul play. She described the incident as disturbing and unfamiliar within the community.
Another resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, called for justice, urging authorities to ensure that those responsible are identified and held accountable.

Sources within the community confirmed that the police were promptly notified and officers visited the scene.
The body has since been evacuated to a mortuary for further examination as part of ongoing investigations aimed at uncovering the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding her death.
As of the time of filing this report, the spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
The development comes barely a week after a separate disturbing discovery in Plateau State, where residents of Special Site in Pankshin Local Government Area reacted with outrage after foetuses were found abandoned at a refuse site, further heightening concerns over recent incidents in the state.
