
A middle-aged man identified as Emeka has died after reportedly being thrown from a four-storey building at 17 Afubera Street, Odoakpu, near Onitsha in Anambra State.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Friday, sparking panic among residents.
When Asenexpress visited the scene on Sunday, a crowd had gathered at the compound, with police officers present.
A video circulating online shows the victim’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood while residents and passersby looked on.
According to eyewitnesses, Emeka, who worked as a site supervisor living on the premises, was allegedly beaten and locked up for three days after being accused of stealing boxer shorts from his employer, who also owns the property.
A resident, Chichi, said, “The victim was a site engineer and lived in the building. Some floors are used as a factory where boxer shorts are produced, and he supervised the factory.

He was accused of stealing some boxer shorts, beaten, tied, and locked in a room for three days. Around 3 a.m. on Friday, we heard a loud shout.
When we rushed out, we saw his lifeless body on the ground. His head was tied, suggesting he was thrown from the fourth floor.”
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incident. Spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said key suspects have been arrested and investigations are ongoing.
He added, “There are various accounts aiding the investigation. Some allege the victim was killed by his employers, while others claim he attempted to escape by jumping from the building.
An autopsy will be conducted to aid further findings, and justice will be pursued.”
Police have taken the suspects into custody, including workers from the factory, as investigations continue.
