Operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command have successfully rescued a woman and her six children following a foiled abduction attempt in Gusau Local Government Area of the state.
The victims were reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday night when suspected armed bandits stormed their residence in the Nasarawa area of Damba District at about 10:50 p.m.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar, disclosed that the victims’ husband, Muhammad Lawal, quickly alerted a nearby police division, prompting an immediate response.
According to the statement, the Divisional Police Officer swiftly mobilised a patrol team to the scene, where operatives engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel.
“The team confronted the bandits in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee the scene,” the statement noted.
The rescued victims were safely recovered without harm, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
