The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday that the incident occurred on March 22, 2026, following a report by a resident, Mrs Olanireti.
According to the police, the woman had sent her son, identified as Alex Ayobami, to visit his grandmother who lives behind her shop.
Shortly after, a concerned passerby, identified simply as Oni, noticed suspicious activity involving the child and quickly raised an alarm.
Acting on the alert, the child’s mother rushed to the scene, where she found two men attempting to escape with her son on an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle.
