Liverpool delivered a commanding performance at Anfield on Tuesday night, sweeping aside Galatasaray 4-0 to book their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
The emphatic victory saw the Reds overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit, with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike, Ryan Gravenberch, and Mohamed Salah sealing a dominant night for Arne Slot’s side.
Coming into the clash under pressure following a disappointing Premier League run, Liverpool responded in style after being booed off in their recent 1-1 draw against Tottenham. The result offers renewed hope for their season, with the Champions League now a major focus.
The hosts started brightly, while Galatasaray suffered an early setback when Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen sustained a forearm injury after colliding with Ibrahima Konaté. Though he attempted to continue, Osimhen was later replaced at half-time by Leroy Sané.
Liverpool took control of the tie in the 25th minute when Szoboszlai calmly finished off a well-worked corner to level the aggregate score. Despite several missed opportunities including a saved penalty by Salah the Reds maintained their intensity heading into the break.
