Social media influencer Martin Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, is facing legal action over alleged defamatory statements targeting Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The action was initiated by a group called Future Platform-Diaspora Group, which issued a legal notice warning Otse to immediately cease and desist from making further statements deemed defamatory.
The group also demanded a public retraction and apology on the same platforms where the alleged comments were shared.
In a statement signed by the convener, Austine Dafe, and publicity secretary, Kunle Olaosebikan, the organisation expressed concern over increasing cyberbullying and online reputational attacks in Nigeria.

They stressed that while freedom of expression is fundamental, it must be exercised within the limits of the law.
“Freedom of speech does not extend to cyberbullying, defamation, or unverified allegations that can damage someone’s reputation,” the statement said.
The group warned that individuals with significant online influence carry both legal and moral responsibilities.
The notice also highlighted that failure to comply could lead to civil proceedings, claims for damages, and other legal remedies under Nigerian law.
The group clarified that its action was not meant to stifle lawful criticism but to promote accountability and protect personal dignity in Nigeria’s digital space.
