Abuja, March 2, 2026 – Hadiza Isma El-Rufai, wife of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has rejected claims that wiretapping equipment was discovered at their residence during a recent ICPC operation.
Her response came after the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) announced that suspected surveillance devices capable of intercepting confidential communications were recovered during a raid on the El-Rufai family home in Abuja.
Speaking on X, Hadiza said: “I was there. No such equipment was found. They lie. But why? An agency with no credibility at all.”

She stated that her presence during the search made it impossible for any undisclosed items to be planted without her knowledge, prompting her firm denial of the Commission’s claims.
The ICPC’s allegations were contained in court documents filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory.
El-Rufai has challenged what he described as unlawful detention and violations of his fundamental rights. According to ICPC affidavits, the items were seized in the presence of Hadiza and their son, Mohammed Bello.
The Commission also claimed that the former governor refused to cooperate with investigators until his formal arraignment and alleged that one of his aides connected to the investigation has left the country.
