Abia State Police have arrested Edward Okorie from Isiugwu, Ohafia LGA, in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Sophy Chika, a young nurse from Ozu Abam, Arochukwu LGA.
Sources revealed that the couple, who had been living together in Okagwe village, Ohafia, for over three years, had a disagreement on Monday over a minor domestic issue.

The argument reportedly escalated into violence, resulting in Chika being beaten to death by Okorie.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed that the Divisional Police Officer in Ohafia had briefed the command.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Umuahia for further investigation.
The tragic incident has left residents of the Abam community shocked, with calls for justice and a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding Chika’s death.
