She reportedly suffered a sudden cardiac arrest less than 20 hours after her arrival on February 11, 2026. Akinyemi was rushed to Luton and Dunstable Hospital, where she remained on life support for three days before being declared clinically dead.
Her family has launched a fundraising campaign on JustGiving to raise £20,000 to cover repatriation of her remains, outstanding medical bills, and funeral expenses.
As of the latest update, £2,087 had been raised from 97 donors. Adekunle Ogundana, who posted the appeal, called on the public to help bring home their “sister, mother, friend, and beloved” Oluranti Akinyemi.
