Neo Akpofure
Big Brother Naija reality TV star Neo Akpofure has issued a legal notice demanding a public retraction and apology over a rape allegation made against him on social media.
In a letter dated February 18, 2026, his lawyers accused an X (formerly Twitter) user identified as Arikan Udoka of publishing defamatory content about their client.
The legal notice referenced a post made on February 17, 2026, in which the user alleged that Akpofure raped her during their time as students at University of Calabar.
The post further claimed that the two were previously casual sexual partners but that the encounter in question was non-consensual.
Akpofure’s legal team denied the allegation, describing it as entirely false, malicious, and defamatory.

According to the letter, the claim falsely portrays their client as a sexual offender and criminal, exposing him to public ridicule, reputational harm, and emotional distress.
The lawyers demanded that the accuser immediately delete the post and any related publications, issue a clear public retraction, and publish an apology acknowledging that the allegation was untrue.
They also requested a written undertaking that no further defamatory statements would be made.
The legal notice warned that failure to comply within 48 hours would result in legal action, including the filing of a civil suit for defamation under Nigerian law.
