The United Kingdom has announced a sweeping reform of its immigration system, confirming that from February 25, 2026, all visitors who require a visa will receive only an electronic visa (eVisa), effectively ending the issuance of physical visa stickers and paper documents.
The development was disclosed by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), which urged travelers to create a UKVI account to access and manage their eVisa before departure.
Under the new arrangement, the eVisa will serve as digital proof of immigration status and will be electronically linked to a traveler’s passport.
Authorities say the move is part of a broader digital transformation aimed at strengthening border security, curbing fraud, and simplifying entry procedures.

By replacing physical documents with a secure online record, the UK government believes the system will enhance efficiency and reduce the risk of document tampering.
The transition marks a significant expansion of the UK’s ongoing rollout of digital visas across various immigration categories.
With the latest update, all visa-required visitors will now be integrated into the digital system.
Prospective travelers are advised to set up their accounts early and verify that all personal and passport details are accurate ahead of travel to avoid delays or complications at UK border control points.
