Tension flared at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Thursday following an alleged attempt by security agents to arrest former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred shortly after El-Rufai arrived at the airport to board a scheduled flight. A team of uniformed and plainclothes operatives reportedly approached the former governor, briefly halting his movement and demanding to speak with him.
Sources at the airport disclosed that the situation created a stir within the terminal as passengers and onlookers gathered to observe the unfolding drama.
Security personnel were said to have insisted they were acting on “orders from above,” though the exact reason for the attempted arrest was not immediately made public.
