
Access Bank Plc has announced the appointment of Ifeyinwa Osime as the new Chairman of its Board, following the retirement of Paul Usoro after completing his regulatory tenure.
The appointment was disclosed in a notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Monday and signed by the company’s secretary, Sunday Ekwochi. Osime’s appointment took effect from January 29, 2026, the same day Usoro officially stepped down from the role.
Osime, a seasoned legal practitioner and corporate governance expert, has served as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the bank’s board since November 2019.
During this period, she chaired key committees, including the Human Resources and Sustainability Committee, as well as the Governance, Nomination and Remuneration Committee, where she played a significant role in leadership development and sustainability initiatives within the bank.

Her professional experience spans several board-level positions. She has served on the boards of Coronation Insurance Plc, Coronation Life Insurance Company Limited, and Bank PHB, now known as Keystone Bank Limited.
Osime is also a director at Ebudo Trust Limited and a partner at McPherson Legal Practitioners, where she advises on corporate and commercial legal matters.
Speaking on the appointment, Group Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, described Osime as a principled and highly experienced leader with a deep understanding of the bank’s strategy and values.
He expressed confidence that her leadership would further strengthen the bank’s commitment to delivering sustainable value to shareholders and other stakeholders.
Paul Usoro was commended for his contributions and leadership during his tenure, with the bank noting that he remains a respected and valued member of the Access family.
Osime holds a law degree from the University of Benin and a Master of Laws in Commercial and Corporate Law from the London School of Economics.
She has also participated in executive education programmes at leading global institutions, including INSEAD, IMD, Harvard, MIT and Stanford.
