The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two former soldiers in connection with a series of armed robberies targeting motorists across Ibadan.
The suspects, identified as David Okhaie, 48, and Balogun Afolabi, 43, were apprehended by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit following an intelligence-led operation.
Investigations revealed that both men, previously corporals in the Nigerian Army, had been dismissed and were impersonating serving military officers to carry out the crimes.
During the operation, police recovered several stolen vehicles, including a black Toyota Camry (KRD 253 KC), a metallic Toyota Corolla (JTA 938 AA), a silver Lexus RX 350 (unregistered), and a black Super Cargo motorcycle (YRE 487 VD).
The suspects are alleged to have approached victims at gunpoint, dispossessing them of their vehicles and creating widespread fear across parts of the city.
