Filmmaker Biodun Stephen has criticised what she describes as a growing trend of women appearing in public without underwear, calling it a nuisance rather than a fashion statement.
Speaking in a TikTok video, Stephen recounted an experience at a salon where a woman’s private area was unintentionally exposed because she was not wearing underwear. She cited the incident as evidence that the practice should be discouraged.

Questioning the influence behind the trend, Stephen asked why some women consider going without underwear a fashion choice. She stressed the importance of modesty and encouraged women to wear appropriate undergarments when in public.
Stephen noted that she has spoken against the practice since 2015, urging women to choose from the many available options rather than avoid underwear altogether. According to her, the habit can be uncomfortable for others and is unnecessary in public settings.
She added that wearing revealing outfits without underwear, especially to places like salons, is inappropriate and insisted that the trend should stop, describing it as disruptive rather than stylish.
