
Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwo, has recounted her personal experience with marriage, revealing that she was married at the age of 19 through an arrangement made by her parents.
The respected actress shared the revelation in a post circulated on a verified X (formerly Twitter) page, Igbo History and Fact.
According to Ozokwo, the marriage was not her personal choice, and she initially struggled with fear and uncertainty, as she did not know how to love a man she had not chosen for herself.

She explained that with time, affection grew between them, and the union lasted for years. Ozokwo disclosed that her husband battled illness for 15 years before passing away in 2000.
The actress revealed that they had three biological children together and later adopted five more children. However, she noted that one of the adopted children died, leaving her with seven children in total.
Following the death of her husband, Ozokwo said she chose not to remarry, dedicating her life to raising her children.
Reflecting on marriage in contemporary society, she observed that despite people investing more time in self-development today, many marriages still fail.
She added that marriages during her time, particularly those arranged by parents, were built on commitment, endurance, and sacrifice.
Ozokwo concluded by saying she raised her children with strong values of respect and responsibility, which helped her maintain a stable home despite life’s challenges.
