Senator Ned Nwoko has explained why Izuvegbu “Ann” Anthonet, a friend of his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels, was arrested.
Regina Daniels had claimed that Ann was detained in Lagos without committing any offence and questioned the legality of her arrest. She alleged that Ann faced shifting accusations, including drug-related claims and theft.
In response, Nwoko dismissed these claims as false and deliberately misleading. He said Ann was arrested for making defamatory statements, including allegations that he physically assaulted his wife, Laila Nwoko, causing a miscarriage claims, which he says are entirely untrue.
He also accused Ann of procuring an illegal abortion for Regina Daniels during her marriage to him and administering controlled substances, which led to serious health consequences.

Nwoko added that Ann’s arrest followed a social media post containing threats and defamatory statements against him and his wife, constituting criminal defamation under Nigerian law.
The dispute between Nwoko and Regina Daniels began after she alleged abuse. Nwoko denied the claims, saying Regina’s drug use contributed to the breakdown of their marriage.
Regina Daniels has not publicly responded to Nwoko’s latest allegations. “This is not a social media dispute but a law-enforcement issue.
The public should rely on verified facts and allow the law to take its course,” Nwoko stated.
