Organisers of AMVCA announce opening entries for 2026 edition

Organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) have announced the opening of entries for the 2026 edition, inviting filmmakers and content creators across Africa to submit their works from Sunday, January 11 to Sunday, February 15, 2026.

Produced by Africa Magic in partnership with MultiChoice, a Canal+ company, the AMVCA remains MultiChoice’s flagship platform for recognising and rewarding outstanding African storytelling in film and television. The 12th edition will once again highlight the growth, creativity and global appeal of Africa’s entertainment industry, while reaffirming the awards’ status as the continent’s most prestigious celebration of screen excellence.

This year’s edition is headlined by Don Julio as Lead Sponsor, reflecting the continued evolution of the AMVCA into a premium and culturally influential showcase of African creativity, craftsmanship and excellence.

Building on its legacy of honouring both established and emerging talent, the 12th AMVCA introduces significant enhancements to strengthen its pan-African reach. Notably, the awards have expanded their Indigenous Language categories with the addition of Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa. These new categories underscore the AMVCA’s commitment to Pan-Africanism, cultural preservation and inclusive representation of the continent’s diverse voices and languages.

According to the organisers, the 2026 AMVCA will feature 32 award categories, comprising 18 jury-decided awards and 11 audience-voted awards, alongside two special honours for Lifetime Achievement and the Trailblazer Award.

Eligible entries must have been broadcast or publicly screened between January 1 and December 31, 2025. Feature-length films must have been shown in cinemas, on linear television and/or on streaming platforms to qualify. All submissions are to be completed online via the official AMVCA portal, with full preview copies uploaded as screened or broadcast. Detailed submission guidelines and eligibility criteria are available at www.africamagic.tv/amvca.
