A 27-year-old woman, identified as Esther Akwaji, has reportedly collapsed and died under mysterious circumstances while visiting her boyfriend’s residence in Dei-Dei, Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Esther, who lived in Nasarawa State, had traveled to Abuja to visit family members. On January 21, she left her family home, saying she was heading to a bank in Dei-Dei, but never returned.
Hours later, her family received a call from a man claiming to be her boyfriend, using Esther’s phone. He reportedly said that while they were eating together, Esther suddenly began vomiting.

The man claimed he rushed her to Kubwa General Hospital, where doctors confirmed she was dead on arrival.
According to sources, the man fled the hospital shortly after her death and has remained unreachable since.
Confirming the incident, FCT Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh said:
“The corpse has been deposited for autopsy to determine the actual cause of death, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect.”
Authorities have urged anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the FCT Police Command immediately.
