Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at federal, regional, and state levels are working tirelessly to strengthen the party and entrench its presence in Bauchi State and other parts of the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atiku made this known in a post on X (formerly Twitter) after hosting a delegation of ADC leaders from Bauchi State. He expressed confidence that the party’s strategy to gain political ground in the state is on a solid footing.
“This afternoon, I hosted a delegation of Bauchi State’s critical stakeholders in our party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Alhaji Aminu Ahmed Yapeco, Sarkin Yakin Katagum,” Atiku wrote.
“Our discussions focused on strengthening the party’s structures in the state. We identified existing gaps, and I am committed to working with party leaders at all levels until we build a strong and virile opposition that will truly serve the interests of the people of Bauchi.”
Speaking to journalists in Abuja after the meeting, Yapeco said the delegation reviewed the current state of the ADC in Bauchi and discussed strategies to boost the party’s prospects and improve its internal mechanisms.

He noted that the talks also examined areas of weakness within the party and explored practical solutions aimed at enhancing unity, efficiency, and overall performance.
According to the Sarkin Yakin Katagum, the engagement with Atiku forms part of a broader effort to reposition the ADC as a credible and viable alternative capable of mobilising the electorate and achieving political dominance in Bauchi State, the Northeast, and across Nigeria.
The visit, he added, was part of ongoing consultations to build consensus and consolidate the ADC’s growing strength in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
